RANDOLPH HILL NURSING HOMES GROUP

About Us

In a recent staff survey, 100% of respondents would recommend Randolph Hill to others.

The Randolph Hill Nursing Homes Group was established in 1985 to provide high quality care for older people. The philosophy of each of our nursing homes is to provide professional, skilled and empathetic individual care. We pride ourselves on our warm, inclusive approach to residents and extend this welcome to families and visitors.

Over more than a 40 year history, our reputation for investing in and providing high quality accommodation, dedicated and experienced staff and proactive, hands-on management has contributed to our strong position in the Scottish nursing home market. Our seven nursing homes across West and South Edinburgh, Broxburn, Livingston Village, Dunblane, Gullane and North Berwick given operational and administrative support from the head office in Edinburgh; all meet the Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (SCSWIS) standards and each one is subject to our own rigorous quality audits.

Security and peace of mind are vital when choosing a nursing home. With a Randolph Hill home, you can be sure that there is a strong, sound business behind the superb provision of care.

Pay and Reward

Our starting rate for care assistants is from £13.77 going up to £19.09 per hour for a team leader.

We provide a fully-funded stakeholder pension scheme, long service holidays, enhanced sick pay scheme covering up to week 26, free uniforms, overtime rate paid at time and a third, death in service scheme, subsidised food from the kitchen, long service awards and other gifts.

Support, Training and Career Progression with Randolph Hill

As a nurse or carer at Randolph Hill, we will provide a structure in which you can make a real difference. We are large enough to be able to provide the support to our team that is required – like a strong supportive management structure, detailed policies and procedures, regular and comprehensive training; while still small enough to avoid being overly bureaucratic and to be able to make the right decisions to fit every circumstance.

We provide all statutory training and our own in-house training programme and encourage and support other training.

We have created a career structure that allows our nurses to progress their career as far as they’d like, with incremental steps so that you can move on at each stage allowing you to progress from day-to-day nursing to management in bite sized chunks.

Our career plan for nurses is:

Staff Nurse - Senior Staff Nurse - Charge Nurse - Deputy Home Manager - Home Manager - Group Nursing Managers - Director of Care Standards or Director of Nursing Homes Operations

Our career plan for care assistants is:

Care Assistant - Senior Care Assistant - Principal Care Assistant - Team Leader

Working at Randolph Hill

We have low staff turnover against the industry average. Over one third of our staff have been with Randolph Hill for over 5 years.

We have a range of shift patterns available including early and late shifts (approx. 6 hours), long days (approx. 12 hours) or nights (approx. 10.5 hours). Full time staff are contracted to either 2, 3 or 4 days per week on a roster issued by our homes and require to be fully flexible to work across 7 days. This is to allow all permanent staff to have the same opportunity for weekends off.

A flexible Staff Bank is also in operation and is hugely successful. This type of contract is more suited for people who perhaps cannot commit to working across a full 7 days. It is particularly beneficial to staff who work around childcare arrangements or other work commitments, their partner’s work or may also be students. This is beneficial to the member of staff as they can pick up as much or as little work as required each week, flexibly and have the opportunity to work in more than one of our homes. It has been a huge benefit to Randolph Hill as our homes receive a far greater continuity of care with the same staff attending weekly rather than agency staff which can be disruptive with a number of different people who don’t know our residents as well.
