Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Workers to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities.
As a Care Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, whether they are residing in their own homes, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities. Your responsibilities will include delivering personal care, companionship, and emotional support while ensuring the safety and well-being of those you care for.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating, and toileting.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bedclothes. Assist in the safe lifting, transferring, repositioning, and movement of clients.
- Accompany clients to medical appointments.
- Observe, monitor, and record clients’ physical and emotional well-being, and promptly report any changes to senior staff.
- Encourage clients to participate in social and recreational activities.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients’ health conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in clients’ conditions to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure clients receive proper nutrition.
- Implement behaviour management strategies when necessary to support clients with specific needs.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and follow individual care plans.
Skills
- Experience in home care or hospice care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques and first aid practices is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team within a nursing home or assisted living environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Patience and empathy towards individuals requiring assistance due to age, illness, or disability.
- A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting clients when necessary.
- Basic understanding of healthcare practices related to behaviour management would be advantageous.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Experience in caring for people who have learning disabilities, Autism, dementia, or Alzheimer’s disease.
- Ability to communicate in more than one language.
- Professional certification such as Skills for Care, Care Certificate
