About Us

At Friends of the Elderly, we are a not-for-profit charity with over 120 years of heritage dedicated to providing exceptional care for older people. Our mission is to help individuals live well in later life, offering compassionate support that fosters dignity, independence, and a vibrant community atmosphere.

Who We Are

We operate as an established charitable organisation running residential care homes, nursing facilities, and day care centres across multiple sites in England. Combining a deep-rooted history of community welfare with modern clinical excellence, our organisation focuses on creating secure, warm, and engaging environments for older adults.

What We Do

We deliver an integrated suite of specialised care and community support services:

  • Residential & Nursing Care: Providing 24-hour professional nursing support and daily living assistance delivered by experienced registered teams.
  • Dementia & Memory Care: Offering specialist, compassionate care pathways designed to support individuals with varying stages of dementia in safe, structured environments.
  • Respite & Short-Term Care: Delivering flexible temporary care options to support post-operative recovery or give primary family caregivers essential planned breaks.
  • Day Care Centres: Operating dedicated day care facilities to promote social inclusion, companionship, and engaging activities for older people living in the community.
  • Grants & Financial Support: Running a free-to-access grants service to assist older individuals facing financial hardship and loneliness.

Our Approach & Values

  • Person-Centred Wellbeing: Placing the individual choices, life histories, and personal comfort of every resident at the core of all care delivery.
  • Combating Loneliness: Actively working through our homes, day centres, and charitable programs to eliminate isolation and foster genuine personal connections.
  • Compassionate Excellence: Combining professional clinical standards with a warm, charitable ethos focused entirely on helping people live well in later life.

Industry Role

We operate as a Registered Charity and Specialist Care Provider. Our role is to act as a trusted non-profit social care provider, supplying professional residential infrastructure, nursing care, and community grant support for older adults across England.
