At Garvald West Linton, we operate as an independent specialist charity and residential community dedicated to providing high-quality care, education, and meaningful work opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and complex support needs. Established with a holistic, therapeutic ethos, our mission is built on enabling individuals to develop their potential, learn new life skills, and live purposeful lives within a supportive, land-based community.
Who We Are
Headquartered on a historic estate in West Linton, Scottish Borders, our organisation brings together experienced social care practitioners, specialist educators, workshop leaders, and agricultural staff. Fully regulated by the Care Inspectorate (Scotland), we combine residential care homes with structured therapeutic workshops, market gardens, and craft studios to create a vibrant, inclusive living and working environment.
What We Do
We deliver an integrated suite of specialist residential care and therapeutic day activities:
- Specialised Residential Care: Providing warm, homely, and secure residential accommodation combined with 24-hour person-centred support tailored for adults with learning disabilities.
- Land-Based & Agricultural Therapy: Offering structured daily participation in organic gardening, horticulture, animal husbandry, and land management to foster physical wellbeing and practical skills.
- Craft & Creative Workshops: Operating specialised woodwork, weaving, pottery, and art workshops designed to encourage self-expression, confidence, and vocational achievement.
- Supported Living & Skill Development: Facilitating personal development programmes focused on independence, communication, daily living skills, and social integration.

Industry Role
We operate as a Specialised Therapeutic Care and Community Provider. Our role is to act as a trusted social welfare partner, supplying vital residential care infrastructure and innovative land-based vocational rehabilitation for adults with additional support needs in Scotland.
