About Us

At Gloucester Charities Trust, we are a historic, values-led charitable organisation dedicated to providing exceptional care, accommodation, and support for older people. With roots stretching back over 800 years in Gloucester, our mission is to foster warm, secure, and compassionate communities where older adults can live with dignity, comfort, and peace of mind.

Who We Are

Operating locally across Gloucester and Gloucestershire, our organisation combines centuries of community heritage with modern professional social care management. Governed as a registered charity, we operate specialised residential homes, sheltered housing schemes, and dedicated dementia day services, creating a close-knit, family-like environment for our residents and service users.

What We Do

We deliver an integrated suite of eldercare, residential support, and community services:

  • Guild House Residential Home: Providing high-quality residential care alongside specialised dementia support (operating specialised memory wings) in a warm, professional setting.
  • Magdalen House Residential / Nursing Home: Offering excellent residential and nursing care in a modern, purpose-built environment designed to accommodate changing health needs.
  • Sheltered Housing Schemes: Operating supportive retirement and sheltered flats (such as St Margaret's, St Bartholomew's, St Mark's Court, and St Philip's Court) that promote independent living with the reassurance of on-hand support.
  • Kimbrose Club (Dementia Day Services): Operating a specialised, welcoming day care centre offering stimulating activities and respite for individuals living with memory loss, loneliness, or dementia.
  • Grant Giving & Relief in Need: Providing financial aid and charitable support grants to qualifying older residents across Gloucestershire.

Our Approach & Values

  • Person-Centred Community: Treating residents like family, getting to know their unique life histories, and tailoring care to support changing needs over time.
  • Compassionate Dementia Care: Equipping our care teams with specialist dementia training to ensure safe, empathetic, and reassuring environments.
  • Dignity & Independence: Balancing the freedom of independent living within sheltered housing with the high-standard clinical and personal safety of our residential care homes.

Industry Role

We operate as a Specialised Charitable Care and Housing Provider. Our role is to act as a trusted local care partner, supplying the residential infrastructure, sheltered accommodation, and specialised dementia services required to support older adults throughout Gloucestershire.
