About Us

At Great Children Support Services Ltd, we are a specialised provider of residential care and support services for children and young people. We are committed to creating safe, stable, and nurturing home environments where young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs—including those with learning disabilities and autism—can thrive, develop positive relationships, and build a foundation for their future.

Who We Are

We are a values-driven, specialist organisation founded in early 2026. Our leadership team brings together extensive expertise in nursing, social work, and safeguarding to provide high-quality, clinically informed care. We pride ourselves on offering a flat, open structure that gives our managers and staff the autonomy to shape their therapeutic environments and build dedicated teams focused on the unique needs of the children they support.

What We Do

We deliver person-centred care through small-scale, high-quality residential settings:

  • Specialised Residential Care: We operate homes, such as Heartwood House in Rotherham, which are designed to be calm, therapeutic environments rather than clinical institutions.
  • Complex Needs Support: We specialise in supporting young people aged 8 to 17 who face challenges related to trauma, communication, neurodiversity, and SEMH requirements.
  • Individualised Development: We focus on celebrating small, meaningful progress. Our care plans are adapted to the child, ensuring they feel respected, safe, and in control during every interaction.
  • Strategic Partnership: We work closely with local authorities and social work professionals to provide essential, stable placements for looked-after children and those at risk.

Our Approach & Values

  • Relationship-Led Care: We believe childcare should be focused on building safe, trusting relationships rather than just managing behaviours.
  • Calm & Honest Ethos: We promote a consistent, reliable environment built on transparency and accountability. We ensure that what we say is what we do.
  • Empowering Staff & Leadership: We provide our managers with the backing, funding for qualifications (such as Level 5), and autonomy to run their homes effectively without unnecessary corporate red tape.
  • Therapeutic Culture: We lead with PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy) to create warm, low-arousal environments that support emotional resilience and growth.

Industry Role

We operate as a Specialist Residential Childcare Provider. Our role is to contribute to the national children’s social care system by providing the stable, high-quality residential infrastructure needed for vulnerable young people. We act as a vital partner to local authorities, helping them meet their placement responsibilities while improving long-term outcomes for children in care.
