About Us
At Longmoor Care, we operate as a dedicated specialist residential care provider focusing on tailored home environments and evidence-based support frameworks for young adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs. Established with a core conviction that every individual deserves a life of dignity, choice, and genuine belonging, our mission is built on delivering compassionate, person-centred care that empowers residents to thrive and live as independently as possible.
Who We Are
Operating through our specialised residential homes in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands—including Abbeyfield House, Walmley House, and The Manse—our organisation brings together experienced mental health nurses, registered managers, and highly trained support teams under the clinical leadership of Director of Operations Gary Thorpe.
Fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and maintaining independent "Good" inspection ratings across our inspected homes, we collaborate closely with families, local authorities, and health professionals to provide safe and secure living environments.
What We Do
We deliver an integrated suite of specialist residential and support solutions:
- Specialist Residential Accommodation: Providing warm, home-like, and supportive environments tailored to young adults with complex learning disabilities and autistic spectrum conditions.
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS): Utilising proactive, evidence-based frameworks focused on understanding the function of behaviour, reducing restrictive practices, and promoting emotional safety and control.
- Active Skill-Building & Independence: Implementing daily engagement models where support staff work alongside residents to foster participation in household tasks, hobbies, and community life.
- Specialist Communication Approaches: Integrating alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) tools such as Makaton and PECS to ensure every resident has a meaningful voice and method for making choices.
Our Approach & Values
- Person-Centred Respect: Placing the individual's preferences, history, and goals at the centre of every support plan and daily routine.
- Rigorous Governance & Continuous Training: Maintaining strict adherence to CQC regulations, enhanced background vetting (DBS), mandatory PBS training, and weekly reflective staff supervisions.
- Collaborative Partnership: Fostering transparent, trusting relationships with families, guardians, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure joined-up care.
