About Us

At Mellifera Homes, we are a specialised, values-led residential childcare provider dedicated to offering children and young people safe, nurturing, and thoughtfully designed environments. Our mission is to foster warm, therapeutic, and stable homes where vulnerable young individuals can heal from past trauma, build resilience, embrace their authentic potential, and thrive.

Who We Are

Operating in the South West of England (including Exmouth and surrounding Devon communities), our organisation combines experienced leadership with a relationship-based approach to residential care. Guided by senior leadership (including Responsible Individual Catherine Ranft), our team focuses on maintaining close, responsive oversight, visible management support, and high-quality residential standards that consistently achieve "Good" ratings from Ofsted.

What We Do

We deliver an integrated suite of specialist residential care and developmental pathways for young people:

  • Specialised Children's Residential Homes: Operating safe, thoughtfully designed residential homes (supporting children and young people aged 7 to 17) with en-suite bedrooms and generous communal living spaces.
  • Trauma-Informed & Relationship-Based Care: Embedding compassionate, therapeutic approaches into everyday practice to help young individuals process past trauma, manage emotions, and develop healthy behavioural strategies.
  • Education & Life-Skills Support: Collaborating closely with local authorities, schools, and educational specialists to transition young people back into full-time education and foster lifelong independence.
  • Careful Placement Matching: Ensuring admissions are thoroughly assessed and thoughtfully matched to support positive group dynamics, stability, and long-term placement success.

Our Approach & Values

  • Child-Centred Autonomy & Voice: Ensuring that the voices, feelings, and daily choices of young people remain central to all care planning and decision-making.
  • Visible & Supportive Leadership: Providing Registered Managers with the autonomy, resources, and senior leadership backing necessary to build stable, highly skilled care teams.
  • Safety, Empathy & Resilience: Maintaining rigorous safeguarding practices balanced with patience, warmth, and empathetic mentorship.

Industry Role

We operate as a Specialised Residential Childcare Provider. Our role is to act as a trusted social care partner, supplying the professional residential infrastructure, therapeutic environments, and dedicated care teams required to support vulnerable young people.
