At Routes to Roots, we operate as a dedicated Christian-principled charity committed to supporting rough sleepers, vulnerably housed adults (such as those sofa-surfing or in temporary B&Bs), and newly housed individuals in Poole. Our mission is to provide immediate essential relief, foster long-term social inclusion, and offer hope, dignity, and practical pathways forward for people at their most vulnerable.

Who We Are

Operating from our dedicated facility—The Genesis Centre on Hill Street in Poole—our organisation brings together a compassionate team of staff, professional partners, and a vibrant network of volunteers. Established over two decades ago, we serve as a central community hub working alongside local churches, businesses, and authorities to end homelessness and isolation in the local area.

What We Do

We deliver an integrated suite of frontline support services and community programs:

• Drop-In & Basic Essentials: Providing a warm, welcoming space offering nutritious hot meals multiple times a week, showers, laundry facilities, clothing, and sleeping bags.
• The Genesis Centre Hub: Operating a centralised facility that brings together housing advisors, mental health outreach, and addiction support teams under one roof.
• Tenancy Sustainment & Practical Assistance: Helping newly housed individuals furnish and maintain their homes, ensuring they remain stably tenanted and avoid repeated homelessness.
• Motivational & Wellbeing Groups: Running weekly art, IT, and specialised support groups designed to build self-confidence, develop skills, and encourage community integration.
• Advocacy & Community Engagement: Acting as a voice for homeless and vulnerably housed people with local government and police, while educating schools, churches, and businesses through awareness talks.
