What We Do

We deliver an integrated suite of statutory public services, community support, and infrastructural operations:

• Education & Early Learning: Managing primary schools, secondary schools, nursery classes, and community-based lifelong learning programs throughout the region.
• Social Care & Health Integration: Delivering adult social work, children's services, home care, disability support, and community health integration via the West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership.
• Roads, Lighting & Winter Maintenance: Maintaining local road networks, street lighting, public footpaths, gritting, and winter weather management services.
• Planning, Housing & Building Standards: Overseeing local development planning, building warrants, council housing allocations, homelessness services, environmental health, and trading standards.
• Waste Management & Recycling: Operating household waste recycling centres, regular bin collection calendars, street cleaning, and garden waste schemes.
• Community Facilities & Libraries: Managing local libraries, digital library services, country parks, open spaces, and supporting local community groups and events.
