Access Skills Ltd – Health & Social Care Training Provider
Access Skills Ltd is expanding our specialist training team and is excited to offer a meaningful opportunity for an Autism Lived Experience Co-Trainer to help deliver high-quality training to the Health and Social Care sector.
This role forms part of our delivery of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training—a national programme designed to ensure care professionals have the knowledge, confidence, and understanding to support autistic people and individuals with learning disabilities safely and respectfully.
About the Role
As an Autism Lived Experience Co-Trainer, you will bring your personal insight and experience to our training sessions, helping learners understand:
- Autism and learning disability awareness
- Communication challenges and best practice
- Reasonable adjustments
- How to better support autistic people and individuals with learning disabilities
You will work alongside our facilitating trainers and co-trainers with a learning disability to deliver impactful sessions to Health and Social Care staff across the region.
Full training is provided — including Train-the-Trainer support, rehearsal sessions, and ongoing guidance to help you develop confidence and deliver high-quality, accessible and inclusive training.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-deliver Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training to Health & Social Care professionals
- Share lived experience appropriately and safely within training sessions
- Communicate complex or sensitive topics in an accessible way
- Build positive working relationships with training colleagues
- Participate in planning, preparation and debrief meetings
- Review learner feedback and support continuous improvement
- Represent and advocate for autistic people and those with learning disabilities
- Use Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook and other basic software
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- A diagnosis of autism
- Strong communication skills
- Confidence speaking to groups of 15–30 people
- Reliability and good time management
- Respectful, inclusive attitude and ability to work well in a team
- Ability to follow safeguarding and organisational policies
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft applications (Teams, Outlook etc.)
Desirable:
- Experience presenting to groups
- Confidence using PowerPoint and virtual training platforms
- Previous involvement in Health & Social Care
