Position
An exciting opportunity has become available for 6 wte band 7 AHP clinical leads with either an Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy background. Evidence of substantial clinical and leadership skills is essential to join the AHP Front Door and frailty teams based within the Emergency Department/Combined Assessment Unit at University Hospital Crosshouse. These roles will be an addition to the existing front door and frailty teams and will work in close partnership with East, North and South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnerships.
This post holders will work as an autonomous practitioner at the front door and across the frailty pathway to provide person centred, specialised, rapid assessment and care for patients with a diverse range of complex presentations and multiple co-morbidities. Supporting the delivery of 12 hour waiting times, prevention of inappropriate admission to hospital and facilitation of early supported discharge. This will involve some work within the unscheduled care wards to support these needs.
You should be able to demonstrate; competencies for care and rehabilitation of people with complex needs, excellent communication skills, the ability to adapt to changing levels of activity and acuity within the Emergency Department/CAU and knowledge of NHS and Social care pathways. Ensuring people have the opportunity to return to their own homes timeously with community-based management where appropriate and avoid unnecessary or lengthy acute hospital admissions.
You require to be educated to Degree level with DIP/BSc with current Professional registration or equivalent, with relevant post-graduate registration qualification or experience in advanced practice assessment/ community/ rehabilitation.
This is a 7 day service and the post holder will be expected to work between the hours of 8am and 6pm on rota basis.
Hours
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
37 hours over 5 days. Weekend working is expected.
This post is offered on a fixed term basis for 6 months.

Essential
Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
- Current Health and Care Professions Council Registration
- Pre-reg MSc / BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
- Substantial and varied clinical experience with significant experience of working within a relevant speciality at an advanced level.
- Post graduate training in relevant speciality, or experience equivalent to a Masters Level. This would include inpatient and outpatient experience and would also include membership of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Special Interest Group.
- Evidence of excellence in clinical knowledge and skills.
- Knowledge of local and national policies related to specialty.
- Evidence of clinical leadership and supervision.
- Ability to work independently, using initiative, and to cope well under pressure.
- Effective organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills particularly with multi-agencies.

- Formal appraisal training experience.
