Our Home
Peebles Care Home is a small, very sociable residential care home in the heart of Peebles in the Scottish Borders, with spectacular views of Tweed Green and the River Tweed. It has recently been beautifully renovated to an exceptionally high standard and has space for up to 31 residents.
Peebles Care Home is a bright, warm care home with spacious lounge and dining areas leading out onto the gardens, and generous rooms with underfloor heating. It is within easy reach of Peebles town centre and its bustling shops, cafés and art galleries, as well as Peebles Eastgate Theatre. It has a friendly, lively atmosphere.
The Role
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our Care Home permanently, working as an integral part of the care home team and in line with our values.
You will play a vital role in assisting residents with daily activities, providing personal care, and ensuring their safety and well-being, based on a good understanding of the individual needs and preferences of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal Care: assisting residents with daily personal hygiene, including washing, dressing, and toileting, supporting mobility and transfers, including the use of mobility aids and hoists and assisting with continence care ensuring residents always maintain dignity.
- Health and wellbeing: Observe and report any changes in residents' physical and emotional health and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Nutrition and hydration: Support residents with eating and drinking, ensuring dietary needs are met, encouraging hydration and monitoring food intake, assist in preparing light meals or snacks when required.
- Emotional & Social and wellbeing support: Investing time in getting to know the individual residents, providing companionship and engaging in conversations to promote well-being, encouraging residents to participate in social activities, hobbies and inspiring residents to set goals for themselves
- Environmental & Housekeeping support, including ensuring residents’ rooms and communal areas are clean, tidy, and comfortable, assisting with laundry and light housekeeping duties if needed and following infection control procedures and health and safety guidelines.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting.
- Ability to follow care plans and maintain accurate records of care provided.
- Willing to learn to use platforms used such as Person-Centred Software.
- Knowledge of and compliance with regulatory requirements for quality and safety, meet CI standards and a commitment to maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.
