Role Description
The Home Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in our Avila Care Home, Bessbrook, Newry, responsible for the overall management and coordination of nursing and residential care within the home.
This role includes leading and supporting care teams, overseeing care planning, and ensuring that services remain person-centred, safe, and compliant with regulatory and clinical standards.
The manager will handle day-to-day operations such as staffing, supervision, and performance management, as well as maintaining accurate documentation, audits, and care records.
Additional responsibilities include liaising with residents, families, carers, and external professionals, managing admissions and assessments, and contributing to continuous improvement in quality of care.
The Home Manager is expected to foster a respectful, inclusive environment that honours residents’ cultural and religious preferences and promotes their independence.
Qualifications
- Clinical leadership skills, including experience supervising nursing and care teams and overseeing person-centred care planning.
- Strong organisational and management skills for scheduling, workload allocation, and day-to-day home operations.
- Knowledge of current UK and Northern Ireland care standards, safeguarding practices, and Nursing and Midwifery Council guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, carers, and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Ability to maintain accurate care records, conduct audits, and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Registered Nurse qualification (NMC PIN) with appropriate professional registration.
- Previous experience in residential or nursing home management, or senior leadership within a similar care setting.
- Commitment to promoting dignity, choice, rights, independence, and respect for cultural and religious diversity.
- Competence in basic IT systems and care management software used in residential and nursing home environments.
