About
Thank you for considering my application.
I am applying for this role because I enjoy supporting people to remain independent, safe, and comfortable in their own homes. Over the years, working as a Healthcare Assistant and Support Worker has taught me that good care is about treating people with dignity, listening to them, and noticing the small changes that can make a big difference to their health and wellbeing.
I hold GCSE equivalent qualifications in English and Maths, a Diploma in Nursing and Patient Care, and I am currently completing my NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care. I have also completed training in Moving and Handling, Infection Prevention and Control, Safeguarding, Basic Life Support, Medication Administration, Dementia Awareness, Mental Health Awareness, Learning Disability Awareness, Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, and Confidentiality.
In my current role with Landona House Ltd, I support individuals with personal care, mobility, medication support, emotional wellbeing, risk assessments, and daily living activities. I regularly monitor and record observations, maintain accurate records, and report concerns to senior staff and healthcare professionals when needed.
One example that stands out was when I noticed an elderly service user becoming quieter than usual, eating less, and appearing more tired over several days. Although there were no obvious signs of illness, I recognised that this was not normal for them. I documented my observations and reported my concerns promptly. Further assessment was arranged, and the person received the support they needed. This experience reinforced the importance of good observation, accurate record keeping, and timely escalation.
I always strive to maintain patients' dignity and independence. Whether supporting someone with personal care, mobility, or daily tasks, I explain what I am doing, seek consent, respect their choices, and encourage them to do as much as they can for themselves. I believe these small actions help people feel respected and in control of their care.
I have also worked closely with families and carers, listening to concerns and ensuring important information is shared appropriately. I understand the importance of confidentiality, effective communication, and building trust with patients and their loved ones.
