Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and committed Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in the South Yorkshire area.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people and who is ready to take full responsibility for the day-to-day management and Ofsted registration of the home.
About the Role
- As the Registered Manager, you will have full legal responsibility and accountability for the service.
- You will lead and develop the staff team, ensure high-quality care delivery, and maintain regulatory compliance\
- Create a safe, nurturing, and homely environment where children can thrive.
- You will play a key role within the wider management structure, ensuring the smooth and effective running of the home.
Key Responsibilities
- Hold Ofsted registration and legal accountability for the home
- Lead, manage, and develop the staff team
- Ensure high-quality care in line with placement plans, risk assessments, and care plans
- Promote the health, welfare, and development of children and young people
- Oversee admissions, placements, and discharge processes
- Maintain detailed, accurate records and high standards of report writing
- Work in partnership with families, Social Workers, health and education professionals, and other stakeholders
- Attend court proceedings when required
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including:
- The Children Act 1989
- Children’s Home Regulations
- National Minimum Standards
- Manage budgets effectively and oversee financial systems
- Ensure robust supervision, appraisal, and training systems are in place
- Promote equality, diversity, and non-discriminatory practice
- Maintain high standards of health and safety
- Participate in the senior on-call rota
- Support continuous improvement and professional development
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager or strong Deputy Manager ready to step up
- In-depth knowledge of Ofsted regulations and children’s residential legislation
- Proven leadership and staff management experience
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Experience managing budgets and resources
- Excellent communication and partnership-working skills
- Commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people
