Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Manager for drug and alcohol services within our North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership Mental Health Services, based between Cunningham House and Caley Court Resource Centre in North Ayrshire. Hybrid working will also be considered.
Hours
37 hours per week.
The post holder will work 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and be flexible to work in the evenings if required.
They will also participate in the North Ayrshire mental health senior manager Out of Hours on call rota (approximately 2 days per month), which covers Monday to Friday overnight and full days at weekends. This post is offered permanently.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving Licence
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will Do
- The post holder will support the Head of Service in the strategic management, development and performance of the Addiction Services (including community and inpatient ward)
- Taking a lead role in delivering organisational change that seeks to embed a culture and practise of the Health and Social Care Partnership to ensure the delivery of the Partnership’s key objectives.
- The post holder will also support the Head of Service in the strategic management, development and performance of the Pan Ayrshire Prevention and Service Support Team.
- To line manage the North Ayrshire ADP Lead Officer and to provide support to the Pan Ayrshire Specialist Pharmacist in Substance Use and the Senior Database Officer.
- The post holder is key to ensuring the Service meets its commitment to the delivery of the strategic plan and world-class services.
- As such, the post holder will accept delegated accountability within the North Partnership for the delivery of staff standards of health and social care
- Ensuring a focus on service user safety, effective management of resources, continuous improvement, staff training and development and education and research within Addictions services.
- Responsible for a specific span of control, the Senior Manager will manage the Addictions service resource and secure operational delivery of the range of services, ensuring optimum use of available resources in achieving safe standards of care.
- Provide professional and operational leadership to the staff, provide professional leadership for the Health and Social Care Governance arrangements and provide professional advice to the Head of Service and other groups.
Knowledge, Training, and/or Experience Required For This Post
- The post holder will demonstrate experience in leading on all aspects of service delivery within community and in-patient alcohol and drug services, or similar experience.
- Experience of partnerships working internally within MHS and the wider services is desirable to enable them to manage expectations and influence the work and direction of the three Alcohol and Drug Partnerships in Ayrshire and Arran.
- This involves working with the local authority, voluntary organisations, police, service users, carers and other partners within the ADPs.

- Master's level degree of evidence of higher education /equivalent experience.
- Demonstrate evidence of CPD.
- Demonstration of management competencies.
- Demonstrate management of change.
- Demonstrate leadership competencies
- Influencing and negotiating skills to deal with a range of challenging situations, including interpretations of data and decision-making.
- Registered with a professional body or an appropriate body
