Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Sheffield
Pay: £48,000–£53,000 DOE + bonus potential taking total earnings up to £58,000

Alderwing Care is looking for an experienced, ambitious and child-focused Registered Manager to lead the development of a new children’s residential service in Sheffield.
This is an opportunity to join us from the beginning and have genuine influence over the culture, team, systems and standards of the home.
You will work closely with the provider and Responsible Individual, with the autonomy and support to build a safe, nurturing, well-led service focused on achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
The Role
You will take the lead in developing and managing the home, including:
- Leading the day-to-day operation of the service.
- Building and developing a strong, stable and values-led staff team.
- Leading recruitment, induction, supervision and staff development.
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and child-centred practice.
- Ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements.
- Supporting the registration process and preparing confidently for Ofsted inspections.
- Overseeing care planning, risk management and appropriate placement matching.
- Developing effective quality-assurance and continuous-improvement systems.
- Building strong relationships with children, families, social workers, commissioners and other professionals.
- Creating a positive culture where children feel safe, valued and supported to progress.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong experience within children’s residential care.Has leadership or management experience within a residential care setting.
- Has a strong understanding of safeguarding, Ofsted expectations and the Children’s Homes Regulations.
- Can demonstrate confident leadership, sound judgement and excellent communication skills.
- Understands trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to supporting children.
- Can recruit, develop and retain a high-quality staff team.
- Is organised, resilient and comfortable taking ownership of a service.
- Holds the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, an equivalent qualification, or is appropriately working towards completion.
- Holds a full UK driving licence.
- Previous experience as an Ofsted Registered Manager is highly desirable.
We will also consider strong Deputy Managers or experienced children’s residential leaders who can demonstrate the experience, leadership ability and suitability required to progress into registration.
