REGISTERED MANAGER – NURSE QUALIFIED

Bo’ness Care Home is looking for a confident, compassionate and clinically experienced Registered Manager to lead our nursing and care team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader who enjoys being visible within the home, understands clinical governance and can combine excellent resident care with effective operational management.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the safe, effective and high-quality operation of the home.
You will lead from the front, maintaining a strong presence within the service and ensuring residents receive personalised, dignified and clinically appropriate care.
Key responsibilities include:
• Provide effective day-to-day leadership and management of the care home.
• Maintain high standards of nursing, personal care, dignity and resident experience.
• Provide strong **clinical leadership and oversight**, supporting nurses and care staff in delivering safe, evidence-based care.
• Ensure care plans, risk assessments and clinical documentation are accurate, person-centred, current and regularly reviewed.
• Maintain effective oversight of medication management, falls, wounds, nutrition and hydration, infection prevention and control, safeguarding/adult protection and other clinical risks.
• Ensure accidents, incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns are investigated, escalated and notified appropriately within required timescales.
• Maintain compliance with **Care Inspectorate requirements, Health and Social Care Standards, SSSC requirements and relevant Scottish legislation and guidance**.
• Lead audits, quality assurance, clinical governance and continuous improvement within the home.
• Develop clear action plans from audits, inspections, incidents, feedback and identified areas for improvement, ensuring actions are followed through to completion.
• Maintain safe staffing levels and effective deployment of the team according to residents' needs.
• Recruit, induct, supervise, support and develop staff, promoting accountability and high professional standards.
• Ensure staff training, competencies, supervision and performance management requirements are maintained.
• Build positive relationships with residents and relatives and maintain an open, responsive approach to feedback and concerns.
• Work effectively with GPs, community nurses, social workers, pharmacists, allied health professionals, local authorities and other external professionals.
• Lead and prepare the service confidently for regulatory inspections and professional visits.
• Maintain oversight of the environment, health and safety, infection control and general operational standards of the home.
• Promote a culture where staff feel able to raise concerns, learn from incidents and continually improve.
• Work closely with the provider/directors while taking clear ownership and accountability for the day-to-day running and quality of the service.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• Registered Nurse with a current NMC PIN.
• Strong clinical knowledge and experience within adult nursing, elderly care or a similar setting.
• Experience in a senior leadership or management role within a care/nursing environment.
• Sound understanding of clinical governance, safeguarding/adult protection, medication management, risk management and infection prevention and control.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements within the Scottish care sector.
• Ability to lead, motivate and hold teams accountable while maintaining a supportive culture.
• Excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
• Confident using electronic care planning, auditing and management systems.
• Able to identify areas requiring improvement and demonstrate evidence of implementing and sustaining change.
Desirable:
• Previous experience as a Registered Care Home Manager or Deputy Manager within a nursing home.
• Previous experience of Care Inspectorate inspections.
• Management/leadership qualification or willingness to undertake the appropriate qualification required for registration.
• Experience leading a service through quality improvement or service development.
