Community Support Worker
Empower and assist individuals with diverse needs—including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health challenges, or age-related support requirements—to live as independently as possible. Provide person-centred care that promotes dignity, choice, and active participation within the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal Care: Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and medication administration in line with individual care plans.
- Community Integration: Accompany individuals to social outings, medical appointments, educational classes, and recreational activities to build social confidence and local connections.
- Skill Development: Support clients in developing life skills such as budgeting, cooking, public transport usage, and household management to foster long-term independence.
- Emotional Wellbeing: Offer a reliable, empathetic presence, listening to concerns and encouraging positive mental health and emotional resilience.
- Advocacy & Safeguarding: Act as an advocate for clients’ rights and wishes, strictly adhering to safeguarding policies and reporting any concerns regarding health, safety, or wellbeing immediately.
- Collaboration: Work closely with family members, social workers, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams to review and adapt care strategies.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date daily logs, incident reports, and care plan evaluations in compliance with regulatory standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience working in social care, healthcare, or a support-focused environment is highly advantageous, though full training is provided for compassionate candidates.
- Skills: Outstanding communication, patience, active listening, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Values: A genuine passion for helping others, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Licensing: A valid UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- Checks: Satisfactory clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
