Healthcare Asst Band 2
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated health care assistant to join our paediatric ward team at Royal Surrey County Hospital. Hascombe Ward has 23 beds and cares for babies and children up to the age of 19 years.
The ward covers a variety of specialities including general paediatric medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, oncology, ENT and maxillofacial. The ward also includes a 24hr Paediatric Assessment Unit.
We are looking for a flexible and hardworking individual to join our friendly multi-professional team with an aim to develop a multi-skilled and flexible workforce. We will provide you with support and training to develop new skills and continuous professional development.
Your role will be to assist the nursing staff in caring for children and families on the unit and to ensure that the ward environment is efficiently and safely maintained. You must be able to work as a member of a team, but also be able to prioritise and organise your workload.

Duties
- To be the first point of contact for people attending the ward or on the telephone and directing them to the appropriate place.
- To keep electronic admissions and discharges up to date. To ensure notes are appropriately filed.
- To provide full administrative and clerical support to the ward team and medical staff.
- To be a full member of the ward team and assist in the smooth running of the ward.
The role is to be agreed with the senior sister to meet the needs of the service.
