Ward Receptionist - DSU Surgery B2
PART TIME 15 hrs
We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic, committed, and hardworking person to join our surgical ward Reception team.
This environment will provide successful candidates with opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge on our busy surgical wards. Motivated candidates will be supported to work with the clinical teams, providing administrative support to the medical staff.
Main duties will be to answer the telephone and carry out general reception duties.
This is a Substantive position offering afternoon shifts working on the Day Surgery Unit DSU
15 hrs a week
What will suitable candidates ideally have?
- Excellent communication skills - friendly, professional, and approachable
- Strong IT skills - comfortable using computers and administrative systems
- A hardworking and proactive attitude - willing to support the team and help others
- Flexibility - able to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
Main duties of the job
- To provide high-quality reception services for the Trust, maintaining the highest standards of service delivery and Customer Care
- Act as a first point of contact to patients, relatives, or other members of the public.
- The post holder is expected to organise their workload in accordance with the demands of the Department.
- To coordinate his/her activities to ensure efficiency of service within the organisation.
- He/she should exercise initiative, and confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
- He/she covers other receptionists' duties when applicable due to staff shortage/sickness/annual leave.

To provide full administrative and clerical support to the ward team and medical staff. To be a full member of the ward team and assist in the smooth running of the ward. The role is to be agreed with the ward manager to meet the needs of the service.
Qualifications
- Good standard of general education

- Grade C or above GCSE/equivalent
- English language
Essential Knowledge
- Previous experience in a reception or other customer-facing role
