Mellors Care are recruiting for an experienced Registered Manager to lead a brand new children’s residential home in Ilkeston.
The home is a beautiful, purpose built five bedroom property which will provide a home for up to three children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. As a new service, this is a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Manager who wants to build a home from the beginning, develop their own team and create a positive culture centred around the children who live there.
Although this is a new service, you will be joining an established national provider with children’s homes across the country. You will therefore have the opportunity to shape your own home while benefiting from the structure, resources and support of an experienced organisation.
The role
As Registered Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful opening and ongoing management of the home. You will work closely with the wider organisation to ensure the service is fully prepared for registration and provides a safe, stable and genuinely homely environment for the children.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading the registration and opening of the new service
• Recruiting, developing and retaining a strong staff team
• Creating a positive culture within the home
• Ensuring children receive high quality, individualised care and support
• Maintaining excellent safeguarding standards
• Overseeing care planning, risk assessments and regulatory documentation
• Building positive relationships with children, families, social workers and other professionals
• Ensuring the home operates in line with Ofsted requirements and relevant legislation
• Managing staffing, rotas, budgets and the day to day operation of the service
• Supporting positive outcomes for children and creating an environment where they can feel safe, settled and valued
About you
We are looking for someone who has strong experience within children’s residential care and understands what it takes to create and maintain a high quality home.
Ideally, you will have:
• Previous experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within a children’s residential setting
• Experience supporting children with EBD and complex needs
• A Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or be working towards this
• A good understanding of Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes Regulations
• Strong safeguarding knowledge
• Experience leading and developing staff teams
• The ability to create a positive, child focused culture from the outset
• A genuine commitment to providing children with a stable and supportive home
This would particularly suit an experienced manager who enjoys developing services and wants the opportunity to put their own stamp on a new home, without losing the support and security that comes with joining an established national provider.
