We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Cook to lead the preparation of wholesome, nutritious meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents. This role is central to ensuring that our residents enjoy a high standard of food and dining experience every day.
As a Cook, you will need to be adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of our team are essential for delivering high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
The Role
- Plan, prepare and cook nutritious meals tailored to residents’ dietary needs, preferences, allergies, and medical requirements.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations.
- Manage and support a small kitchen team, providing guidance and ensuring high standards of food service.
- Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and maintain kitchen equipment.
- Maintain accurate records, including meal plans, temperature checks, and dietary notes.
- Work collaboratively with care staff and residents to gather feedback and continuously improve meal service.
- Support special functions and events as required.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a similar cooking role, ideally within a care or residential setting.
- Knowledge of dietary needs for older people and those with specific health conditions.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards at all times.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Food Safety and Hygiene certification (Level 2 or above essential; Level 3/NVQ-3 or equivalent desirable).
- Physical stamina to work in a hot kitchen environment and carry out manual tasks.
