The Role
As Service Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the operational management, quality, and performance of designated services. You will lead and inspire a team of support workers and senior staff, ensuring that the people we support receive exceptional care tailored to their individual needs and aspirations.
You will work closely with senior leadership, commissioners, families, and external professionals to maintain excellent standards and drive service development.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, motivate and develop staff teams to deliver exceptional person-centred support.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
- Manage recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, and performance management processes.
- Support workforce development through coaching, mentoring, and training.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure services operate in line with CQC regulations, legislation, and best practice guidance.
- Maintain high standards of care, governance, safeguarding, and health and safety.
- Conduct audits, quality assurance checks, and service reviews.
- Lead investigations and implement learning from incidents, complaints, and feedback.
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day service delivery and resource management.
- Ensure person-centred support plans are robust, meaningful, and outcome-focused.
- Manage occupancy, referrals, transitions, and service growth opportunities.
- Develop effective partnerships with stakeholders, local authorities, healthcare professionals, and families.
Financial Accountability
- Manage service budgets efficiently and responsibly.
- Monitor staffing levels, agency usage, and operational costs.
- Contribute to business planning and sustainable service development.
About You
We are looking for an experienced care leader who combines strong operational management skills with a genuine passion for improving lives.
Essential Requirements
- Experience managing health and social care services.
- Proven leadership experience in supported living, learning disabilities, mental health, autism, or related services.
- Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, MCA, DoLS, and person-centred practice.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing budgets, staffing, and service performance.
- Ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders and commissioners.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care
- Experience leading services through CQC inspections.
- Experience supporting service growth and mobilisation.
