Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a brand-new children’s residential home in Stoke-on-Trent.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to play a key role in establishing a high-quality home from the beginning. You will have the opportunity to shape the culture, develop the staff team, establish strong relationships with professionals and ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment for children and young people.
The successful candidate will work closely with the directors to prepare the home for registration and then take responsibility for the day-to-day management and ongoing development of the service.
Key Responsibilities
• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the children’s home.
• Lead, support and develop a dedicated residential care team.
• Ensure the home provides a safe, stable and nurturing environment for children and young people.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and promote the welfare of every child.
• Ensure the home operates in accordance with Ofsted regulations, the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
• Develop and maintain effective policies, procedures and recording systems.
• Work closely with social workers, local authorities, placing authorities, schools, health professionals and other external agencies.
• Support the recruitment, induction, supervision and ongoing development of staff.
• Monitor care plans, risk assessments and placement plans.
• Ensure incidents, safeguarding concerns and complaints are managed appropriately.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure the home is always inspection-ready.
• Promote positive outcomes, independence, emotional wellbeing and personal development for the children in our care.
• Take an active role in developing the service and maintaining strong relationships with commissioning authorities.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
• An experienced Registered Manager or an experienced Deputy Manager ready to progress into a Registered Manager role.
• Experienced within children’s residential care.
• Knowledgeable about safeguarding and children’s social care legislation.
• Confident leading and developing a team.
• Organised, professional and able to work independently.
• Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
• Able to build positive working relationships with professionals, families and external agencies.
• Committed to providing high-quality, child-centred care.
A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care/Children and Young People’s Services, or equivalent, is desirable.
Previous experience working with children and young people with EBD/emotional and behavioural difficulties would be highly advantageous.
