Registered Manager – Children's Residential Home
Location: Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum + performance-related bonuses
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Registered Manager to lead the launch of a brand-new 3-bed children's residential home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) in Sutton Coldfield.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious leader to play a key role in establishing a new service from registration through to its first Ofsted inspection. Our client already operates successful children's homes with positive Ofsted outcomes and is continuing to expand its residential care provision.
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the registration, setup, and ongoing management of the home. You will be instrumental in creating a positive culture, recruiting and developing a high-performing team, and ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are embedded from day one.
This role would suit an experienced Deputy Manager ready to step into registration or an established Registered Manager looking for the opportunity to build and shape a new service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the registration and launch of the new children's home.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the service in line with Children's Homes Regulations and company policies.
- Recruit, supervise, mentor, and develop the staff team.
- Ensure children receive high-quality, child-centred care that promotes positive outcomes.
- Maintain full compliance with safeguarding, Ofsted, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans.
- Manage budgets, staffing levels, rotas, and resources effectively.
- Build positive relationships with local authorities, education providers, families, and external professionals.
- Drive continuous improvement and work towards achieving a Good or Outstanding rating at the home's first Ofsted inspection.
Requirements
- Previous experience within children's residential care.
- Experience in a leadership, deputy manager, or registered manager capacity.
- Strong understanding of Children's Homes Regulations (England) 2015 and safeguarding legislation.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive service development.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
