About Elders Voice
Elders Voice is a charity supporting older people in the London Borough of Brent. Our mission is to enable older people to live safely and independently in the homes of their choosing and lead healthier and happier lives. We do this by providing a variety of services and activities, including a Day Centre and a Handyperson Service.
The Elders Voice Day Centre is for people aged 55 and over who are isolated or living with dementia. We aim to enrich the wellbeing of the individuals that attend, and we provide a variety of activities including yoga, dance, reminiscence, baking, games, arts & crafts and much more!
About the role
We are looking for a Care Worker to join our team and assist in the day-to-day running of the Centre. You will be attending to clients’ needs thoughtfully and sensitively. You will treat clients, volunteers and staff with dignity and respect, and feel confident raising safeguarding alerts if necessary.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Help serve refreshments and lunch to clients.
- Support clients with toileting and personal hygiene.
- Encourage Day Centre clients to take part in the activities, and support them in doing so.
- When planning activities, include clients in decision-making and take into consideration their hobbies, interests and expertise.
- Assist with the supervision of volunteers.
- To work with the Day Centre Manager to develop the Centre.
- Carry out administrative tasks as required.
- Ensure compliance with equality, diversity & inclusion, health & safety and safeguarding policies.
- To undertake further training relevant to the post as required.

Person Specification
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 Social Care or equivalent qualification.
- An understanding of the needs of older people living with dementia and the challenges they face.
Essential
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with older people or lived experience of caring for a family member.
- A cheerful, compassionate and caring nature, with the ability to build trusting relationships with your colleagues, clients and their families.
- Enthusiasm for developing services for older people.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Understanding of equality, diversity & inclusion, health & safety and safeguarding, and the ability to apply this knowledge in a work environment.
- You have the right to work in the UK (we do not offer any form of sponsorship).
