Responsibilities
This is a full-time, on-site Domiciliary Care (Home Care) role based in Preston. The role involves visiting adults in their own homes to provide person-centred support with personal care, mobility, meal preparation, medication prompts, and light household tasks. The care professional will offer companionship, emotional support, and conversation, helping individuals maintain independence and engagement in their local community. Responsibilities include following agreed care plans, recording daily notes and observations accurately, and promptly reporting any concerns or changes in a person’s condition. The role also requires working collaboratively with families, colleagues, and health and social care professionals to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality care, including some early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
Requirements
- Proven skills in Home Care and Domiciliary Care, with an understanding of person-centred support in individuals’ own homes.
- Demonstrated ability in Personal Care and Elder Care, including support with washing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and safe moving and handling.
- Strong Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, show empathy, and maintain professional boundaries.
- Experience or a strong interest in Caregiving, including companionship, emotional support, and promoting independence and dignity.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to keep clear written records and follow care plans and risk assessments.
- Willingness to complete or hold a relevant care qualification (e.g., NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent).
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional standards in adult social care.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends; access to suitable transport for community visits is highly beneficial.
- Previous experience in home care, domiciliary care, or adult social care is desirable but not essential where there is a strong motivation to learn
