Registered Manager - Tier 2 Specialist Therapeutic Children's Home
Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire
Salary: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
Hours: Full-time
Service: Establishing a new Tier 2 therapeutic home for up to three children, with a planned development pathway toward dual registration, offering significant opportunities for personal development and career progression.
Skylight Children’s Homes is growing, and we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Manager to lead the development of our specialist therapeutic children’s homes in Newark, Nottinghamshire.
This service will provide high-quality, stable and relational care for children aged 8–17 who present with emotional, behavioural and developmental needs. As a Tier 2 therapeutic home, the focus will be on providing consistent, attuned support within a calm, warm and predictable environment.
The children you will support may have experienced trauma, have neurodevelopmental differences, and/or co-occurring mental health needs. At Skylight, we believe that complexity does not sit within the child; it lies within their experiences, relationships and environments. Our work is therefore centred on understanding each child’s story and responding with curiosity, compassion and therapeutic intent.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a small, nurturing service from the ground up, integrating care, therapy and clinical thinking into one seamless, trauma-informed model that places connection and safety at its heart.
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will take the lead in registering, setting up and running the home, supported by our Responsible Individual and clinical/therapeutic leadership team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Registering the home with Ofsted and ensuring full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the SCCIF
- Embedding a relational and trauma-informed model of care, drawing on PACE, and other behavioural evidence-based approaches.
- Recruiting, leading and developing a small, skilled and resilient team able to care for children with varied and overlapping needs.
- Working closely with therapists, clinicians, behavioural specialists and education providers to co-create individualised care and support plans.
- Ensuring robust governance around restrictive practices (Regulation 20), promoting least-restrictive, dignity-centred support.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with social workers, health services, schools, CAMHS and commissioning teams.
- Using reflective practice, team learning and outcome data to support continuous improvement.
About You
We are looking for an emotionally intelligent, confident and values-driven leader who:
- Has experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in an Ofsted-registered children’s home supporting young people with complex needs.
- Holds or is working toward the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
- Understands and applies trauma-informed, relational and therapeutic care models.
- Has strong knowledge of restrictive practice governance, safeguarding, risk management and human-rights-based care.
- Demonstrates reflective, curious and calm leadership, especially when holding complexity or managing change.
- Is committed to the rights, voice and wellbeing of every child.
You will embody our values:
- Passionate & Ambitious – putting children at the centre of every decision
- Playful & Warm – building trust through connection
- Accepting & Respectful – meeting each child with dignity
- Curious & Reflective – always learning and developing
- Empathetic & Kind – leading with humanity and consistency
